Kenya Power has reported a net profit of KSh24.99 billion for the financial year ended June 30, 2026, supported by increased electricity sales, new customer connections and reduced financing costs.
The company’s revenue rose to KSh238.24 billion, up from KSh219.28 billion recorded in the previous financial year, representing an increase of approximately 8.65 per cent.
According to the company’s financial results published in September 2026, electricity sales increased by 12.05 per cent to 12,777 gigawatt-hours, partly driven by 411,710 new customer connections during the year.
Despite the improved performance, the company’s cost of purchasing electricity increased to KSh152.65 billion from KSh144.66 billion, reflecting higher electricity demand.
Kenya Power also recorded a significant improvement in its working capital position, moving from a deficit of KSh19.21 billion in June 2025 to a surplus of KSh1.90 billion in June 2026.
Meanwhile, the company’s board recommended a final dividend of KSh1.20 per ordinary share, subject to shareholder approval. Together with the interim dividend of KSh0.30, the proposed total dividend stands at KSh1.50 per share.
The financial results highlight Kenya Power’s improved earnings and efforts to strengthen its financial position as electricity demand continues to grow across the country.
