Brand had denied all the charges, maintaining during the trial that his sexual encounters were consensual. However, the jury found him guilty of four offences while acquitting him of two additional counts of rape and one count of attempted indecent assault.

Following the verdict, Brand was remanded in custody after the judge refused a bail application by his legal team.

The presiding judge, Mr Justice Bennathan, indicated that the convictions meant Brand was likely to receive a significant prison sentence. He is scheduled to return to Southwark Crown Court on Monday, November 9, for sentencing.

Four-Week Trial Examined Allegations From Six Women

The trial examined allegations dating back several years, covering a period when Brand was becoming one of Britain’s most recognisable entertainers.

The prosecution presented evidence and testimony from the women involved, alongside accounts from other witnesses. According to the Metropolitan Police, investigators interviewed more than 100 witnesses, collected over 400 statements and reviewed more than 1,400 documents while building the case.

The allegations first attracted widespread public attention in September 2023 following media investigations by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times. The reports prompted a police investigation, with additional women subsequently coming forward.

Police Confirm Further Investigation

The Metropolitan Police have also confirmed that Brand remains under investigation over separate rape allegations made by two other women. The investigation is ongoing, and no findings of guilt have been established in those separate complaints.
